Frequently Asked Questions
What is Fix Your Content Day?
Fix Your Content Day is a global event where colleges and universities work together to make digital course content more accessible for all learners. By participating, you’re helping improve equity and inclusion at FHSU while competing against other institutions worldwide.
Why should I participate?
Accessibility is about making sure every student has the opportunity to fully engage with your course materials. Even small adjustments, such as adding alt text to images or improving the structure of a document, can create meaningful improvements for students who rely on assistive technology or need alternative formats. These changes not only support individual learners but also strengthen the overall learning experience for your entire class.
What does “accessibility” mean in this context?
Accessibility means creating digital content that all students can use, regardless of ability. This includes making sure documents, images, videos, and course pages are navigable, readable, and usable with screen readers or other assistive tools.
What changes can I make to improve accessibility?
Some of the quickest, high-impact changes include:
- Checking Ally’s accessibility score in Blackboard Ultra and following its suggestions.
- Adding descriptive alt text to images.
- Using proper headings and lists in documents.
- Ensuring sufficient color contrast in slides.
- Providing captions or transcripts for videos.
Where can I find resources?

How will TILT help me?
The TILT team will:
- Be on hand to provide support throughout the day with any questions.
- Highlight success stories and share tips to keep accessibility manageable.
- Provide short how-to videos and quick reference guides on this page and on the Blackboard Ultra course.
- Track FHSU’s progress in the global competition.
- Send updates via email, social media and other communication outlets.
What if I don’t have time to fix everything?
That’s okay! The goal is progress, not perfection. Start with one or two content items in your courses and apply the suggested fixes. Every improvement benefits students.
Will this impact my students right away?
Yes! Once you make changes in Blackboard, students immediately gain access to more usable and accessible content. They’ll also be able to generate alternative formats more effectively through Ally.
How do we measure success?
Each fix you make in Blackboard Ally counts toward FHSU’s progress in the global competition. Collectively, our efforts demonstrate FHSU’s commitment to inclusive teaching and student success.
